Wednesday night Mom and I were driving back from Kathleen's house when the storm started. We had heard that we were going to get a storm, possibly with lots of hail, but I figured it would be more like a Florida storm. I forgot about those pesky tornado things Nebraska likes to throw at you. So I'm driving towards Mike & Sandy's when we start to hear a quiet whirl sound. Mom unrolls her window but we decide it isn't a siren, too quiet. But as we drive further west, it gets louder and it is a siren. In my head that only means one thing - a tornado has been spotted. I ask Mom what we're going to do and she says to keep going to Mike and Sandy's. We're at least 60 blocks away still at this point. I start to flip out and get all nervous and Mom calls Dad to find out if he knows anything. He said that they've turned on the sirens because of the high winds. Well, shouldn't there be a high wind siren? So Mom and I pull over and switch places so I don't have to drive and we find the A

M station with the weather report on it. They've got people calling in from all over Omaha talking about the high winds but no tornadoes. It starts to pour when we're still about 20 or 30 blocks away. We pull into the driveway as close as we can to the open garage door and still got soaked running into the garage. As soon as we got inside and dried off a little bit Sandy told us to look out the back windows. Every window on the back of the house was completely blocked by fallen tree branches. It was if every tree in their yard had fallen right by the house, but thankfully, none of them fell into the house. Also, luckily, they had ordered Chinese food for dinner and got it before the rain got too bad. So we sat and ate our Chinese and watched the special weather reports on the tv. After it stopped, Mike, Sandy, and Dad ventured out to survey the damage and see if they could move any branches that needed to be moved ASAP. Here are some pictures of the back yard.

Today some of the boys and their friends came out to help clean it up, so now most of the branches are sitting in the driveway waiting to be hauled away somewhere.

Sounds scary! Stay safe guys! We love you! Hope you're having fun. Baby H says hi and he can't wait to meet his grandparents and his aunt!
